Port Whitby can really be broken down into 3 distinct neighbourhoods...Whitby Shores, Port Whitby and The Condo Apartments. All are close to the Lake Ontario, but each offers a different and distinct version of the community.
Whitby Shores - Whitby Shores is its own neighbourhood within this community of Port Whitby. It's a group of homes that were built in the late 1990's and detached houses and freehold and condo townhouses, that started in the late 1990's and continue development today. Currently there are more than 650 homes in Whitby Shores. With its proximity to the lake and all sorts of great recreation opportunities, this fantastic community is a highly desirable place to live.
The Condos - Port Whitby is also home to 3 condo apartment buildings that are part of 2 different developments. They are located together near the corner of Watson Street West and Victoria Street West, which is just across the street from the GO Train. They have dramatically increased the total number of residential units in the area and allows residents to have a variety of housing options.
The 1st building is located at 360 Watson Street West known as "The Sailwinds". The 2nd is located right next door at 340 Watson Street West known as "The Yacht Club". The Sailwinds was built in 1990 and The Yacht Club didn't follow until almost 2008. The 2 buildings are in fact connected by common areas that offer a swimming pool and exercise facilities. The newer building has a lovely roof top patio with bbq's for the residents that offers great views of the Lake.
The 3rd building known as "The Rowe" is an 11-storey condo building located at 1600 Charles Street. Built in 2008. These are smaller units, but offer a lovely modern atmosphere. The building has fantastic amenities including a games room, party room, workout room and guest suites for your guests.
Port Whitby - There are just over 100 predominantly older homes located between Whitby Shores and The Whitby Industrial district. They are located on and around Brock Street just south of Victoria St. Besides being very close to the 401, residents of Port Whitby are just a short walk to the Lake and the Go Train. Being an older area with less amenities close by, the prices are lower than the homes in the Whitby Shores neighbourhood.
